After Shingles Pain (Phn) Awareness Day –September 15

Rekindling the Torch!

Largo, FL -- (SBWire) -- 09/15/2015 --When the American Pain Foundation (APF) saw the need to establish September 15 as PHN or "After shingles Pain Awareness Day" 6 years ago they were filling a crying need for information by both physicians and the public alike for insight and understanding on this enigmatic problem.

The American Pain Foundation is no longer active and for the past 3 years this need has been left mostly unaddressed until now!

That is why this September the Neuralgia Relief Center is 'picking up the torch' by not only providing for increasing awareness of this critical issue, but presenting a practical plan to prevent it and a proven method of managing it that includes an alternative approach, should that eventuality occur.

You see, of the more than one million people who develop shingles every year in the United States, over 200,000 go on to have after shingles pain and 70% of those who are aware of this issue would choose an alternative approach to managing it because of the inherent problems of side effects and addictions with conventional treatments. For some the best approach may be somewhere in the middle. Wouldn't it make sense to make physicians and the population at large more aware of this devastating problem and the alternative approach as well?

Since 1998 the Neuralgia Relief center at http://www.aftershinglespainawareness.com has been at the forefront in successfully helping after shingles pain sufferers. These sufferers are identified by having their shingles pain last more than 30 days after the onset of the shingles rash and then having the pain go on for months and even years without relief and effective treatment. Their frustration is heightened by the seemingly interminable time it takes physicians to recognize the problem and treat it appropriately because after shingles pain is often misdiagnosed as it resembles other diseases that mimic Post Herpetic Neuralgia (PHN).

"After Shingles Pain – Take This Book to the Doctor with You" by Boyce N. Berkel, MD, PhD Medical Director of the Neuralgia Relief Center will soon be available to help both patients and physicians alike work through this difficult problem that is often called the suicide disease and continues to take a severe toll on the elderly and others in the population as well.

The Neuralgia Relief Center is taking on the responsibility of After Shingles Pain Awareness and will carry the Torch!

The After shingles Pain Awareness Day will take place on September 15
