Marietta, GA -- (SBWire) -- 09/30/2016 --Rodney R. McColloch, a Partner at Moore Ingram Johnson and Steele, was invited to speak at the State Board of Worker's Compensation annual education conference at the end of August in Atlanta. He also spoke last week at the National Alliance of Medicare Set-Aside Professionals, (NAMSAP) 2016 annual conference in San Antonio, Texas.
Mr. McColloch spoke at NAMSAP on "State Law – Consequences and Outcomes: A look at how Medicare regards state-specific laws, including California's Independent Medical Review (IMR)." He led a discussion concerning the 400 week cap on medical benefits and how it effects the funding of Medicare Set-Aside Accounts in Georgia.
"This is a critical matter for carriers who write workers compensation coverage in Georgia, and at the end of the day, States still control their workers compensation laws concerning what injuries are covered and how long benefits are provided." He further explained, "We will continue to see debate on this issue as this area of the law is constantly evolving."
The State Board Conference in Atlanta is the most important one of the year for anyone involved in the workers' compensation system in Georgia. Mr. McColloch is on the steering committee for the Insurance and Self-Insurance Section, and spoke on "Common Perceptions and Misperceptions in the Workers Compensation System" and moderated a panel of experts discussing Professional Employer Organizations (PEO's) and their role in the Georgia workers compensation system.
Mr. McColloch is often asked to speak to Georgia workers' compensation groups because of his extensive experience in this area of the law. Ryan Ingram, another partner at Moore Ingram Johnson & Steele, also spoke on a panel covering subrogation recovery in Georgia as it relates to workers compensation claims.
Mr. McColloch indicated "It was an honor for our firm to have a presence during 3 of the sessions at this conference and work with the State Board members and Judges to help educate attorneys, employers, and claims professionals that handle workers' compensation claims in the state of Georgia."
