Round Rock, TX -- (SBWire) -- 11/06/2017 --Dr. Lumby enhanced this full-service eye care center with the development of a specialized Dry Eye Clinic, as well as added orthokeratology to their comprehensive eye care services.

Dr. Lumby, a licensed Therapeutic Optometrist and certified Optometric Glaucoma Specialist, graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry (UHCO), where she received a Contact Lens Clinical Excellence Award. She has published research on dry eye treatment, which is one of her numerous specialties. In addition, she is responsible for fitting many Round Rock patients successfully with ortho-k contact lenses.

At present, over 24 million Americans suffer from dry eye syndrome, and it is one of the most common reasons for visiting an eye care provider. A chronic condition, dry eye occurs when tear quantity and/or quality is reduced. Insufficient lubrication on the eye can cause a profusion of uncomfortable symptoms, ranging from minor dryness to blurry vision and pain. Dr. Lumby and Dr. Nancy Guenthner, the expert eye doctors at Aspire Vision Care's Dry Eye Clinic, will perform a thorough eye exam to diagnose this condition and design a personalized treatment plan to restore comfortable vision to each patient.

Mild forms of dry eye can often be relieved with artificial tears or prescription eye drops. However, more severe cases may require medical intervention, such as an amniotic membrane graft, which often qualifies for insurance coverage.

"Amniotic membrane devices are a promising new treatment that we are pleased to offer for severe cases of dry eye," says Dr. Lumby. "It works by placing dehydrated amniotic tissue on the eye, which promotes healing and increases visual comfort. Patients are thrilled to experience relief from painful dry eye irritations that interfere with daily life."

Since Dr. Lumby joined Aspire Vision Care, this optometry practice has fit an increasing number of patients with ortho-k lenses. Ortho-k is an effective, convenient and nonsurgical method to correct daytime nearsightedness and slow myopia progression in children. The patient wears specialized rigid gas permeable contact lenses throughout the night and removes them in the morning. During sleep, the ortho-k lenses mold the cornea gently to correct refractive error. When the lenses are taken out on the next day, individuals can see clearly without glasses or contacts.

"Ortho-k is a safe and painless process, and many of our patients who've worn eyewear for years love the freedom granted by this method," says Dr. Lumby.

The optometrists and staff at Aspire Vision Care provide Round Rock, TX, with the best in eye care services. Both scheduled appointments and eye emergencies are welcome.
