Huntsville, AL -- (SBWire) -- 05/31/2018 --Chef Darrell Echols who received a letter of "Thank you" from USDA for his contribution during the last American Food Festival held back in November 2017, is once again invited for USDA Sponsored southern cuisine program in India. The culinary activities will be geared towards training Indian chefs, restaurant operators and hospitality management students about the US Southern Cuisine, featuring the "Soul Food." The event is scheduled to take place in June this year.
Through these regular training programs, Chef Echols hopes to build a relationship with India to allow the US students to work or study abroad in foodservice operations. The last American Food Festival was conducted at Windmills Craftworks from October 22, 2017, to November 5, 2017, and was attended by more than 100 chefs, cooks and other culinary professionals in India. Similar success is expected this time too by the honorary members of USDA.
As evident, JF Drake State Community & Technical College is considered as one of the smallest colleges in the State of Alabama. However, these opportunities for the JF Drake State Community & Technical College is a testament to the hard work that has been put into their culinary program. The college hopes to continue furthering their association with USDA which it considers a priceless pathway for state colleges like them to unite with federal agencies for a greater good.
In the words of Chef Darrel Echols himself," As a part of JF Drake, we not only recommend but embrace the characteristics of diversity, whether it's India, Indonesia, Italy, Iceland, etc. This upcoming event will be another chance for people like me to demonstrate several American items that can benefit the Indian market. I also hope to receive hands-on experience with Indian cuisine and incorporate that into our International Cuisine curriculum!"
