Tacoma, WA -- (SBWire) -- 11/26/2014 --Úna McCarthy-Fakhry a mum from Melbourne, and the founder of ‘Love Your Lingo’, is currently raising funds for a clever multilingual alphabet on Kickstarter. The alphabet contains 26 objects starting with the same letter in 6 languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch and German. Now, just one alphabet can satisfy multiple markets for monolingual, bilingual and multilingual families speaking any combination of these languages.
The Melbourne mum to two bilingual girls (English-French) said the idea grew from a simple bilingual alphabet she had made for her girls on witnessing their confusion while switching between languages. ‘I felt their confusion was affecting their attitude to their second language, and I was determined to simplify things for them, but the project grew as I started to think about it on a more global scale. I view the alphabet as not just for little linguists, but also as a nice opportunity to introduce the idea of different languages and cultures to children at a young age and, most importantly, to find similarities between them.’ The alphabet also enables monolingual and bilingual children to learn side-by-side in an inclusive atmosphere.
If a goal of AUD 7,000 (about USD 6,000) is reached by December 12th, ‘The Little Linguist’s Alphabet’ will be available as a poster and e-book (with audio). If you would like to pre-order a copy of the alphabet or simply support this great project, visit http://kck.st/1Bl6uPc
