Rutledge, MO -- (SBWire) -- 01/14/2014 --Implementing holistic solutions for local and global challenges is what Ecovillage Education US (EEUS) graduates are trained to achieve. Located at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage, one of the world’s most well-known and established intentional communities, EEUS channels 87% of its operating budget into the local economy which is built around an alternative currency system. Students from around the world come to Dancing Rabbit to be immersed in off-grid ecovillage living and instructed by a multi-disciplinary faculty.
“Our core staff lives and works here at Dancing Rabbit, every day we are implementing radical sustainability. Our mission in living here is to show the world that sustainability doesn’t suck. EEUS Students are immersed in our ecovillage life and exposed to a full spectrum curriculum that instills the fundamentals of what it takes to create sustainable culture.” says Josi Nielsen, Development Coordinator for Ecovillage Education US. Ms. Nielsen was a student in the 2013 course, which so affected her life that she left a comfortable corporate existence and chose the voluntary simplicity of life at Dancing Rabbit Ecovillage.
EEUS is raising $14,000 to fund scholarships for their 2014 course. Reaching this goal will dramatically increase the financial help they can provide to students who have the desire to become leaders in sustainable culture. Last year, more than 60% of our students were international and many would not have been able to attend the course without scholarship assistance. Because so many of the applicants are from the developing world, a fully funded scholarship campaign will enable EEUS to lower the financial barriers for students to travel and attend this life-changing course
The break up of the funding budget is as mentioned below
62% will be used as needs based scholarships for students
12% covers campaign fees
13% covers shipping PERKS to you and the wholesale cost of PERKS that weren’t fully donated
9% will be put towards professional videography of the 2014 course
4% will be used to purchase course materials for student use
This campaign will receive all funds raised even if it does not reach its goal. Funding duration: December 29, 2013 - February 06, 2014 (11:59pm PT).
