Woodland Hills, CA -- (SBWire) -- 02/27/2019 --A trio of experts from Family Divorce Solutions will speak about collaborative divorce finances considering clients' emotions and mediation at upcoming Collaborative Practice California (CPCal) conference.

The speakers are Warren R. Sacks, CPA, CFF, James E. Walton, Ph.D., LMFT and Stephanie Maloney, CPA, CDFA. Their part in the annual conference is for professionals who are trying to a guide a client through a divorce and spousal support. They will lead a discussion on how participants can assist their clients to use emotions while reviewing financial information in reaching a spousal support agreement. The discussion will also includehelping the professionals understand how clients come to decisions and how to identify triggers that block agreements.

"It is always better if people can reach an agreement with each other instead of having someone impose a decision," said Mr. Sacks. "In a collaborative / mediated divorce, both clients may not get everything they want, but the goal is that they reach an agreement they can live with. If a judge; on the other hand, has to hand down a decision, then that can leave both parties upset and angry."

The issue is that clients have a lot of fear when they need to make an agreement about spousal support. Dr Walton said, "Money can cause an emotional trigger that creates impasses on even the most sound and logical financial decisions."

"Being able to find our own professional financial bias is crucial to the understanding of our client's emotional triggers" said Mrs. Maloney. "We will be discussing the difference between informing and advising our client and projecting our own bias."

The conference seminar includes group discussion to gather information from the professionals attending. The presenters hope everyone coming will contribute to the discussion by sharing their experiences

Key points in the seminar are:

1) Discussion of emotional motivation and how it effects the interests and positions of each client

2) Finding the effective language to help clients feel heard and reduce anxiety.

3) Discussion of financial tools for reaching spousal support agreements.

4) Understanding the professional team's perceptions of money and the influence it has on the client's decisions.

"We expect this to be another very high quality CPCal conference, and we are delighted to be speakers. To be asked to speak is a mark of distinction," Mr. Sacks said.

The CPCal Conference XIV is set for April 26, 27 and 28, 2019, at the Hilton San Diego Resort and Spa.
