Wilnecote, Tamworth -- (SBWire) -- 09/20/2017 --The Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO) has recently submitted a proposal to the Government asking to increase the fees for shotgun and firearm certificates – proposing that they should be raised from £50 to £93.80 (an 88% increase).
Not only are they looking for the fees for firearms and shotgun certificates to be made higher but they also are proposing that the fees for renewals should also be increased from £40 to £66 (a 65% increase), with new charges also being introduced for licensing clay shoots.
The recent proposals have already angered many people across the country, prompting strong reactions from a number of fieldsports bodies including BASC and the National Gamekeepers' Organisation (NGO).
A spokesperson from one of the UK's leading suppliers of airguns and shot guns Solware was incredibly keen to comment, "Here at Solware as all of our customers already know, we are incredibly passionate about shooting, and thus this news has utterly shocked us. Hopefully, the proposals will not become reality, however whilst we wait for the verdict if anyone has any questions or requires expert advice we are available as always to call."
