Forest Hill, MD -- (SBWire) -- 08/31/2016 --A northeast Maryland winery, Harford Vineyard and Winery, is known for supplying regional winemakers with grapes, juices and winemaking supplies, but they are also distributors of Hungarian Zemplén and American & French Recoop wine barrels.
The finest available oak woods have the tightest grain that will provide the best result in winemaking. Zemplén Hungarian style barrels are manufactured exclusively from the world's best oak wood, the Quercus Petraea/Sessile Hungarian Oak trees, originating in the Zemplén Mountain Forest. Many winemakers prefer the softer, smoother, creamier texture Hungarian oak offers their wines.
The Maryland winery also is the authorized east coast distributor of both American and French Recoop barrels that are remanufactured in the US. These French Oak barrels offer a significant cost savings while maintaining the exceptional qualities of the wood. A patented technology starts with a neutral barrel and removes ¼ inch of the stave and head to get to virgin wood. Then the staves are resized and heads made to fit the size barrel you desire, in 10, 15, 20, 30 and 60 gallon sizes. These barrels are raised, cured, toasted, and thoroughly inspected.
