New York, NY -- (SBWire) -- 02/05/2019 --Just months ago, the Mets introduced Brodie Van Wagenen as their new G.M. and a recovering agent. Sources say that Van Wagenes has made a very smooth transition into his new role. Van Wagenen has earned immense accolades for structuring the best and the most unique deals and contracts in 2016. His most notable being being Ryan Zimmerman. Ryan, Van Wagenen worked together for many years and had built up tremendous history. Similar to Van Wagenen's, a decision like this is very rare for an MLB team to make. However, it seemed an easy decision due to Van Wagenen's impeccable record and past success. These kinds of career jumps of an agent becoming a GM are quite rare sights in the industry.
This former agent says that his vision for the club is to 'build, not rebuild'. The Sports Business Daily, an online journal also featured Brodie under their Forty under 40 Feature https://www.sportsbusinessdaily.com/Journal/Issues/2012/03/12/Forty-Under-40/Brodie-Van-Wagenen.aspx. The article tells fans on how van came a long way from working as a paid intern for Chicago Bulls to being one of the first employees of CAA. There was no looking back for Van and nothing stopped him from becoming one of the most successful agents of all times. During an interview he said that "We have always kept our eye on the fact that we work for the player. The player doesn't work for us".
