Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWire) -- 05/20/2016 --Mor Dovrat is an actress, screenwriter, director, and producer. She has undergone extensive education, most of which has been based in theater making and acting, in both cinema and theater. Dovrat attended high school in Israel from 1997 to 2001, where she began her education in the arts with a major in theater. Between 2007 and 2010, she continued to study theater at the Sofy Moskowitch studio in Tel-aviv, Israel. To expand her theater education further, Dovrat attended a year-long workshop from 2009 to 2010 that specialized in on-camera acting, where she was instructed by Moshe Mizrahi, a director who has previously won an Oscar for his work in film. Finally, from 2013 to 2016, Dovrat rounded out her theatrical education by mastering in Physical Theater in Switzerland at the Scuola Teatro Dimitri.
Along her studies, Mor Dovrat has an abundance of experience in acting and directing both on screen and on stage. Already with 17 years she directed an all-female version of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest at the Natanya's City Theater. She played several roles in theater throughout the next two decades. She played Stella in A Streetcar Named Desiree in 2009, Annett Eu la Mere de Madame in 2010, The Duchess in Jeep on the Hill in 2010, Actress in Mini-Mono in 2010, The Joker in Roof in 2010, and Actress in É Amore o Stato di Emergenza in 2014. In 2016, Mor Dovrat also acted in and directed a theatrical production called Aber-Glaube. Dovrat has acted in several on-screen productions throughout the years as well. In 2009, she played an Extra in Jerusalem Mix on television. In 2011, she acted in a short film named Adisio. In 2012 she acted in the prize winning short called The Pink Son, and in the feature film called Road 40 South. She also played Elise in a short film called Giants and Giants in 2012. Also in 2012, Dovrat was the assistant director for a documentary film called The Pain Inside featured by Al Jazeera world.
Despite her abundance of experience in acting and directing both on screen and in the theater, My Forelove is the first short film that Mor Dovrat has directed, produced, and written herself. Her extensive education and experience in both acting and directing in theater and film productions provides her with a unique perspective that allows her to bring realistic life into the characters in her film as well as pair unique action and dialogue with artful and professional cinematic design and production.
In essence, My Forelove, which is titled as a literal translation of the German phrase 'Vorliebe' which means 'preference', is a fresh, modern twist on the classic "boy meets girl" love story. The seven-minute short film is set in Berlin, Germany and represents the post-queer generation's notion on love. The story revolves around the two main characters meeting for sex without knowing anything about each other or the life of the other person. It is a debut film not only for Mor Dovrat as a writer and director, but also for the cast. The plot and script of My Forelove is unique not only as an original take on a traditional love story but also because it combines facts from the real lives of the cast and director and blends them with fictional elements. While neither Mor Dovrat nor the cast of the short film has revealed which elements of the film are based in fiction and which are based in fact, the unique patchwork mix of fiction and reality that the film encompasses adds to its intriguing nature.
