The interactive site provides a place for residents, families of residents and staff and the community, to stay connected and get information about senior health and living topics. It also provides a way for residents and their families, as well as local corporations, to provide gifts to Pickering to help with the care of the seniors that call the facility home.
Opening in 1963, Pickering Manor is the premier center for senior living in Newtown and the surrounding communities. Pickering began with the help of property and money bequeathed by Russell Pickering, a long time Newtown resident, to start a long term care and retirement community for the residents of Newtown. Pickering Manor is located in the center of Newtown on historic property which is an asset to the community.

At Pickering Manor, residents have the option to live in independent cottages and apartments outside of the main home facility. In addition, the facility has 22 beds in its Personal Care area and 47 beds in its Skilled Nursing area. Finally, residents have access to rehabilitative services, occupational therapy and physical or speech therapy to help with recovery from illness or surgery.
To help encourage active independence and keep families connected to their senior loved ones, the new Pickering Manor website has an interactive blog. The blog will post informative articles about senior living and health topics.
