Ray Nugent Jr. began appraising books while a rare book store owner in Naples, FL in 1976. He expanded his appraisal service to include documents, manuscripts, and maps. His growing client base stretched their demand for accurate values of more items like antiques and collectibles. Never one to miss a demand and opportunity, Ray became a member of the American Society of Appraisers in order to obtain the necessary knowledge and accreditation.
Ray's son, Ray Nugent III and his wife Gwen came into the business in 2001. Ray III was educated and trained by ASA and Gwen by the International Society of Appraisers (ISA). Ray III has managed the firm through its growth from a single office to six offices throughout Florida. His father remains active in the firm's Naples, FL office reviewing the firm's reports and traveling throughout the country appraising large archival collections for institutions and museums.
The founder's granddaughter and 3rd generation appraiser joined the firm in 2014. Olivia Nugent, an accredited GIA Gemologist is the firm's main appraiser of Jewelry as well as other items. Olivia and Nugent Appraisal have recently secured a General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule as an approved small business vendor to the Federal Government. The GSA Schedule has created opportunities for the firm to meet appraisal needs throughout the country.
