London, England -- (SBWire) -- 10/19/2016 --Sunny weather and school holidays often result in people having to drive in France. Whether simply going on vacation to France or driving through France to reach other European destinations it is vital that all understand the differing traffic laws. Recently RAC have compiled a list of tips for all to consider and these are as follows:
1. A high visibility vest has to be present in vehicles at all times, this can be kept inside the passenger compartment of a vehicle and has to be worn should a break down occur and a driver have to exit their vehicle to repair a puncture etc.
2. Having a warning triangle in the car is also a legal requirement when driving in France. Many come with new cars but make sure that you always check before setting off.
3. Spare bulb kits must be kept in the vehicle in case any bulbs fail.
4. With drivers having to drive on the other side of the road, it is important that they properly adjust their headlights to ensure that they do not blind oncoming traffic.
5. In France there is a lower drink-drive limit of 50mg per 100ml of blood and breathalyser kits that meet NF standards must be carried.
6. Children under the age of ten are not allowed to sit in the front of a vehicle apart from babies under nine months old if they are in a rear facing secure child seat.
A spokesperson from leading self-drive car and van hire company Fair Rent was keen to comment saying, "As providers of vehicle hire services to those looking to drive to France we constantly urge everyone looking to drive in other countries to read up on the rules and regulations to ensure that they are both legal and safe. It is important to be extra cautious when driving abroad, as not only do you not know the roads but also do not know other drivers habits and practices. If anyone has any questions regarding driving in any European countries, we are more than happy to advise."
