New Braunfels, TX -- (SBWire) -- 07/13/2011 --Southwest Schools hosted a blood donation drive at its Corpus Christi campus on Wednesday June 8, 2011. The drive was organized as a volunteer-based project to create public awareness.
Students of SWS as well as people from all walks of life participated in the blood drive. SWS employees also played a key role in organizing the event.
The function was presided over by Ms. Marci Villegas, Lead Medical Instructor at Southwest Schools in Corpus Christi. Later in the day Chris Miteff, Vice President of Southwest Schools also visited the donors and congratulated them for being a part of this worthwhile initiative.
This volunteer blood drive by Southwest Schools was highly appreciated by Coastal Bend Blood Center, which is an independent non-profit community-based blood center and is the largest provider of blood products and services in North America.
The drive continued from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and more than 12 units of blood were collected in total.
Donor’s contributions were acknowledged by the CBBC certificates. “We hope this drive will motivate and inspire more students to participate in social projects in the future” commented (CBBC).

This worthwhile cause received a great response from students and faculty of SWS. The blood units were distributed to needy people at several different government run and private hospitals.
