Guangzhou, Guangdong -- (SBWire) -- 10/13/2011 --Triazole fungicides have been playing an increasingly important role in the disease control on various crops, ranking the first place by market value in all the categories of fungicides in China in 2010. In particular, the domestic consumption of triazole fungicides has increased by 10.5% in 2010 compared with that of the previous year, and will continue growing in the future, according to CCM’s October Issue of Fungicides China News.
As the largest fungicide category, triazole fungicides with broad spectrum and high efficiency have witnessed a rapid development in the world since triadimefon, the first striking representative of these fungicides, was successfully commercialized in the 1970s. Thereafter, other triazole fungicides such as triadimefon, tebuconazole, propiconazole, difenoconazole, epoxiconazole, etc., have been put on the market in succession.
Owing to the excellent chemical bedrock, abundant resources, strong imitating ability, China has played an important role in the global triazole fungicide industry. China's total capacity of triazole fungicides has exceeded 50,000t/a in 2010 with the capacity expansion and the launch of many new production lines in recent years.
Besides, China's total output of triazole fungicides by technical has exceeded 20,000 tonnes in 2010; thereinto, about 70% was exported to the oversea market. Thanks to their high average prices compared with that of most other fungicide categories, triazole fungicides have taken the first place by market value in all categories of fungicides in China, capturing around 20% of the total fungicide market value in 2010.
The total market value of triazole fungicides has grown to about USD409 million in 2010, up 7.1% and 31.5% compared to that in 2009 and 2008 respectively. The top three triazole fungicides by market value were tebuconazole, propiconazole and triadimefon in 2010.
It is estimated that both the output and domestic consumption of triazole fungicides will continue to see stable growth in the next few years with the enhanced promotion and extended control spectrum. What's more, some new triazole fungicides such as epoxiconazole which is the second largest variety of triazole fungicides in the global pesticide market are expected to witness high demand growth in China in the future.
However, there are still some unfavorable factors existing in China's triazole fungicide industry, such as the increasing disease resistance, the low industry concentration, the degradation of traditional triazole fungicides and so forth. Fortunately, China has attached more and more attention to the healthy development of the domestic pesticide industry especially from 2010 when the Pesticide Industry Policy was formally issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of the People's Republic of China.
As reported in CCM International's Fungicides China News 1010, Chinese pesticide industry will be greatly concentrated in the future. Under the circumstances, the competitiveness of Chinese triazole fungicide industry will be enhanced accordingly with the improving industrial concentration.
