Modesto, CA -- (SBWire) -- 10/19/2011 --BMW’s ConnectedDrive system is an innovative technology that helps keep drivers in touch with the outside world. Valley BMW is proud to show off the benefits of ConnectedDrive, such as convenience, infotainment, and safety, to their Modesto, California customers.

ConnectedDrive gives BMW drivers the unique opportunity to manage a mobile office in the car. When connected to a Bluetooth-enabled mobile device, the system will use text-to-speech functionality to allow the dashboard to read aloud emails, notes, contacts, text messages, and calendar entries. Hands-free calling is also possible through steering-wheel controls. Through advanced speech recognition technologies, numbers can be dialed hands-free by name or number. Video card images are also stored so the picture of the contact can be shown when they call or are called.

Other convenience features offered by ConnectedDrive include up-to-date navigation, a rear view camera, park distance control, parking assistant, the ability to remotely unlock the driver’s door in the instance that an owner gets locked out, and the capability to help recover stolen BMWs.

The system also provides many entertainment capabilities. In addition to hands-free calling and text-to-speech, Bluetooth Audio Streaming also allows drivers to listen to music from their MP3 Player or Smartphone while controlling the library through the iDrive display. ConnectedDrive also features HD Radio and Sirius XM Radio, providing higher-quality sound and over 130 commercial-free stations. On the information side, ConnectedDrive offers drivers the ability to connect with the BMW customer relations staff and receive news headlines and weather forecasts.

Finally, ConnectedDrive offers many advanced safety technologies. Immediately following a crash, automatic collision notification sends accident and location information to a response specialist. Other safety features include roadside assistance, active cruise control, lane departure warning, night vision, blind spot detection, and emergency request, a system that sends vehicle location information at the push of a button.
