Apple Helps Making Textbooks That Interacts

Posted: Friday, January 27, 2012 at 10:43 AM CST

Hicksville, NY -- (SBWire) -- 01/27/2012 --Technology from Apple electronics have always shaped and driven the market. It is continuously motivated to create products that would always fill an important void which its customers and competitors have never been able to see before. With Steve Job’s vision to create a technology that can challenge the contemporary textbook market, Apple is again geared up to create the next big thing that can magically reduce the heavy backpack of a school kid and turn the I-Pad into a revolutionary slate. This tool on which the tech industry has always had its speculation is called the ‘I-Book Author’.

I-Book Author is a new tool that looks very similar to some media creation tool but, it is all that is needed to make the future textbook talk, sing, dance, listen and remember. With I-Book Author installed in a Mac, professionals and even street smarts can create interactive texts and mould them to an interactive brochure, interactive menu or a digital textbook. Combination of text and other rich media tools along with a pinch of creativity can create textbook content that we have never seen before. Imagine reading about Japanese culture. To understand it, one must see ladies dressed up in a ‘Kimono’ and must also witness sumo wrestlers in a ring. This all will be possible now in a textbook. The 'I-Book' authors will have easy and quick drag and drop options to add rich media elements such as pictures, video’s etc. to complement the content they are developing. This experience, which was not imaginable before will now be possible with I-Book Author. Given this condition, kids will now put more emphasis on analyzing things and crammers might have a hard time dealing with that.

OpenXcell Technolabs which provides ‘I-Book author’ services is also hopeful about the invention. Mr. Jayneel Patel (Managing director) says that “it is utmost important now a days for students to benefit directly from technology. I did not see it happening before but now it feels great to be working with ‘I-Book Author’”. He adds, “The publisher can hire a professional interactive e-book developer and then put it online on the app store or can get both the services done by the developer itself just the way we do it at Openxcell”.

‘iBook 2’ on the other hand will complement the content created with iBook author. ‘iBook 2’ will read the content created with the help of ibook author and would make reading e-books real fun. ibook 2 will be able to display interactive video and graphics, sounds and audio clips along with other interactive content. With a simple ‘tap’ action, readers will also be able activate the highlighter tool on the screen to highlight desired portion of texts. The reader can also add notes to the highlighted section for quick reference at any time he desires.

There are other similar apps available in the market with similar features but their functional flaws have restricted them from making a headline as they have not been successful to add much value to the users.

So, if you envision a future of interactive and smart textbooks, you will not be disappointed. As iBook Author gains momentum in the coming times, in the end it is absolutely safe to think of a different world where books will be smarter and students enjoy their time analyzing and learning and not just reading.
