Greensburg, PA -- (SBWire) -- 02/15/2012 --Toyota announced this week at the Chicago Auto Show that they will be launching the second annual “100 Cars for Good” Program. Last year, the Toyota program awarded 100 Toyota vehicles to 100 Nonprofits around the United States, so they can make a better community with their organization’s efforts in helping others.
The announcement was made by Vice President of Philanthropy and Community Affairs for Toyota Motor Sales, Michael Rouse, who was accompanied by some of last year’s recipients.
Similar to the 2011 Program, the 100 nonprofit recipients will be chosen by the public via Toyota’s Facebook page. Public voting will begin in May, and will run for 100 days. Each day, Toyota will profile five different organizations on their Facebook page and the public will then vote for one of five organizations each day. The four runners up every day will each be awarded a $1,000 grant from Toyota.
Some of the nonprofits from last year include, a soup kitchen in Morristown, NJ who needed a vehicle to pick up food donations that used to be turned away due to lack of transportation, Camp Casey near Detroit who provides horseback riding visits for kids with cancer, and a North Carolina nonprofit who trains and delivers service dogs to wounded veterans.
Toyota of Greensburg is very proud to be part of the Toyota brand and wants to help spread the word about this amazing program. Along with Toyota, Toyota of Greensburg will feature the finalists on their Facebook Page to help raise awareness of each organization and help bring in more votes as the contest rolls on.
