A Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) is a flexible data communication system that substitutes or extends a Wired Local Area Network (WAN). WLANs use transreceivers (a transmitter/receiver) that are linked to 'access points', and are integrated with the local wired LAN. Access points are essentially antennae or repeaters, installed into the end-user device, extending the distance between the wireless end-users and the transceiver. End-user devices (PDAs, mobile devices, laptops, etc) access the WLAN via these access points. WLANs transmit information through the use of electromagnetic waves (radio or infrared) at a defined frequency. WLANs and associated devices conform to the IEEE 802.11 standards for safe wireless transmissions.
The report forecasts the market size of Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) in Healthcare Industry over the period 2008-2012, and talks about the global segmentation of WLAN market in Healthcare Industry based on their applications.
