New Delhi, India -- (SBWire) -- 03/17/2010 -- HEMROCK Group Of Schools, Delhi's No.1 Preparatory School Chain, celebrated their Annual Day with Shera, the Commonwealth Games Mascot. With more than 50 branches from Delhi & NCR participating in the event, "SHEMagic Games 2K10" – a 15 day event, kick-started with the first branch celebration at Kamani Auditorium on 7th March. The whole auditorium, filled with the Parents & Grandparents of little SHEMROCKites was pulsating with enthusiasm and the undercurrents of palpable energy could be felt each time the little Buds from SHEMROCK, took center stage for a new performance.
The chief guests Dr. D.R.Arora, Pro Vice Chairman - D.P.S Pinjore and Chairman - SHEMROCK & SHEMFORD Group of Schools and Dr. (Mrs.) B. Arora, Founder Director - SHEMROCK Group of Schools & Associate Director - SHEMFORD Schools, were accorded a very warm welcome by SHEMROCK staff and children alike.
As New Delhi is hosting the Commonwealth Games in October this year, the Games mascot "Shera" was the cynosure of eyes all along the fifteen day event. "SHEMagic Games 2K10", was launched by Shera, making the children shriek with fun, laughter, pride and claps- to the amusement of all present. The function commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial diya followed by the Welcome Speech and Welcome Dance. The theme was kept in accordance with the Commonwealth Games. The young champions confidently put up a Yoga Exercise Show and various other fun filled fitness regimes giving out a message of 'Healthy Delhi'.
Dr. Arora while addressing the gathering appreciated the efforts put in by the students and faculty members and gave some friendly tips on spending quality time with the children. Mrs Bimla speaking on the same lines, advised the parents to let their children discover their hidden talents and not force their expectations on them.
Thereafter, the children presented various programmes on stage amongst which, "I am the Best", "God is One", "Out Door Games Session", "Hip-Hip Hurray" and "Balle –Balle" programmes got the audience applauding immensely. A few tears of joy were also seen as parents could not believe how their little ones, who till a few months back were barely taking their first steps, were today performing with such confidence and enthusiasm. The parents were perplexed that their children could perform so well and that too, on such a big stage in front of such a large audience. This simply showed their confidence and preparation to face the challenges in this world, which SHEMROCK School has prepared them for.
Gracing the occasion, Mrs. Meenal Arora, Executive Director & COO - SHEMROCK & SHEMFORD Group Of Schools said, "At Shemrock, we always believe in providing the child with an all rounded development, and considering the pride of being the nation to host the Commonwealth Games this year, we wanted to do our bit. We decided to use the platform of our parent involvement initiatives such as the ‘Bright Beginnings Parent Volunteer Programme’ (BBVP), workshops, orientation programmes, parent teacher meetings to spread the awareness. It’s been a pleasure to introduce our little talents to Shera- our Commonwealth Games Mascot."
The major highlight of the programme was SYNERGY's (SHEMROCK's Parent Participation Programme) 'Bright Beginnings Parent Volunteer Programme'. As part of the programme, parents were invited to participate in their child's school activities according to their interest, skill and time schedule. The programme has continuously received an overwhelming response, since its inception, as many parents & grandparents choose to perform with their child on the stage and enjoy it to the hilt. Going forward, the grandparents performed a skit whilst the mothers danced with their kids in "Nach with babies." Not to be left behind, the fathers presented jokes with their children in the "Laughter challenge" Contest. All these performances received thunderous applause and the parent participants themselves felt great performing and acknowledged experiencing a great sense of satisfaction which only comes from spending quality time with their child.
