• Hyderabad witnessed a dip in hiring activity by 9%, but the three month moving average index indicates an optimistic recruitment scenario
• On the national level the job index moved up by 1.5% in Mar’10 as compared to Feb’10 indicating a steadily improving hiring scenario
The national Naukri Job Speak has seen the index moving up successively moving up for the past three months clearly indicating that the tidings in the job market has seen stability and major industry sectors like IT, ITES, Auto, Telecom and Banking have started hiring again. A similar sentiment is echoed in the job index for Hyderabad as well, where the three month moving average index moves up by 7% in Mar’10 over Feb’10. Overall, there is a shift in the declining trend of hiring activity towards a more stabilized market scenario.

A sectoral analysis both at the national and state level shows an improving hiring environment in majority of industry sectors as reflected by the upward moving three month moving average indices. In Mar’10 the ITES and the Pharma sectors has seen positive movement in the recruitment front with the index moving up by 13% and 7% respectively in Mar-10 over Feb-10. Although the IT and the Telecom sectors has seen an 8% dip in the index in Mar’10 over Feb’10, the three month moving average index moved up by 6.5% and 4% in Mar’10 as compared to Feb’10. A similar optimistic sentiment was reflected in the Naukri.com Hiring Outlook survey (Jan-10) where 85% of recruiters in the IT sector and 55% of recruiters in the Telecom sector had said that new jobs will be created in 2010.Thus, key sectors in Hyderabad IT, ITES, Pharma and Telecom all seem to be on a positive path.
The demand for professionals in ITES, Production, Banking and HR saw an increase in hiring activity by 13%, 12%, 8% and 7% respectively in Mar’10 over Feb’10. While, the hiring activity for IT-software and Sales saw a decline in the index by 4% and 2% in Mar’10 over Feb’10, three month moving average index moves up by 8% and 6% in Mar’10 over Feb’10.
