Pasadena, CA -- (SBWire) -- 06/07/2010 -- The Honolulu job market is showing glimpses of improvement even as the economy has dealt with the city harshly in recent times. More than 5,000 job seekers attended the workforce job fair which was held at the Blaisdell Center. The event drew 135 employers, which was an increase of 20% over the number which attended last year’s event. Meanwhile, HonoluluCrossing (http://www.HonoluluCrossing.com), a job-research service catering exclusively to job seekers in Honolulu, has massively enhanced its efforts to locate every job opening.
“HonoluluCrossing added more than 3000 jobs to the site and aspires to list more and more job openings every day and every week,” says A. Harrison Barnes, CEO of HonoluluCrossing.
The workforce job fair attracted fair amount of jobs to the needy. Some have got what they have wanted, while others have returned dejected. But the declining number of job seekers have not yet reflected in statistics. Analysts presume that the jobs being added would get reflected by year end.
Reportedly, the federal economic stimulus package is planned to be used to provide summer jobs to Hawaiians. More than a thousand jobs for young people will be available through the newly proposed 2010 Summer Youth Employment Program. The state department of Human Services is reportedly financing the program. Lt. Governor Duke Aiona exhorted non-profit organizations to enroll in the program and receive help from young workers. Those aged 14 to 23, are admitted to apply for jobs at the nearest DLIR Workforce Development Division Office.
“The job market is improving, thanks to government efforts in this regard in Honolulu. But there are cluttered job boards everywhere and no focused, niche job boards which post jobs according to the needs of the job seekers. HonoluluCrossing aspires to be the job board which can aggregate all jobs in Honolulu, and till now has met with considerable success.” adds Barnes.
Luckily, HonoluluCrossing has expanded its research horizons to meet the needs of job seekers in Honolulu. The website currently lists 3000-plus jobs in its database belonging to all domains and industries. These jobs have been collected from more than 8,000 job boards and 250,000 employer websites. “We aim to add more jobs from all possible sources, including all the hidden jobs,” adds Barnes.
Unlike other job-search and career sites, HonoluluCrossing weeds out spam and jobs outside one’s niche, allowing job seekers to search efficiently and specifically for Honolulu. HonoluluCrossing also allows employers/recruiters to post jobs for free on the site. For more information on HonoluluCrossing, please visit http://www.honolulucrossing.com
