Pasadena, CA -- (SBWire) -- 06/29/2010 -- 98,000 unemployed people in Ohio are going to stop getting their unemployment benefits by June end because of the Senate’s failure to pass the unemployment extension bill. ODJFS also reports that in May, for every available job advertised there were almost 5 unemployed Ohioans (4.91). Nationwide, the ratio was nearly 4 to 1.Local papers in Ohio are running stories of families already under the strain of unemployment facing even more hardship with the end in unemployment benefits.
Although the next few months seem to be tough for Ohioans without jobs, there are still over 12,000 jobs available in Ohio, according to Hound, a job search engine. A. Harrison Barnes, CEO of Hound, says that there are jobs available at every skill level. Cincinnati, Cleveland and Columbus have around 1500 jobs available on the site, as do most other cities in the state.
