Nuneaton, Warwickshire -- (SBWire) -- 08/19/2010 -- A new campaign to find the nation’s favourite colour for the home has been launched by leading trade body the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA), in association with Crown Paints.
Love Colour celebrates the role colour plays in our lives and sets out to find the UK’s favourite shade for the home.
People are being urged to cast their vote at a special online information centre - launched as the hub of the campaign at http://www.crown-pda-lovecolour.co.uk
Love Colour can also be reached from http://www.paintingdecoratingassociation.co.uk or http://www.crownpaint.co.uk
Those completing a poll on the Love Colour website will have the chance of winning one of 30 iPod shuffle in a prize draw.
As well as accessing the poll, visitors will also be able to see a video about Love Colour, view a practical guide to getting the right shade from PDA experts and find out more about the work of the Association’s professional painters and decorators.
A gallery of room sets in inspiring shades from Crown Paints has also been included.
Neil Ogilvie, national president of the PDA said: “Colour can lift moods, transform our environments and breathe new life into tired spaces.
“Effective use of colour can make a great first impression and create lasting satisfaction. A glossy front door, cleverly co-ordinated interior spaces or a row of brightly coloured cottages all have a positive effect on owners and visitors alike.
“Whether it’s painting the town red, going for gold or believing the future is orange – we want to hear the views of the UK public.
Love Colour was launched at colourful beach huts in the seaside town of Bournemouth, recently repainted using Crown Paints in a rainbow of colours.
Liz Hickson, director of marketing at Crown Paints, said: “We want as many people as possible to cast a vote and it is easy to take part.
“The online poll has some short questions to answer, including the favourite shade for the inside and exterior of a home, as well as doors and windows, together with the voter’s home county and their age.”
The PDA represents almost 2,000 companies across the UK from sole traders to large national contractors.
Contacting a member of the PDA helps assure peace of mind for customers. Painters and decorators are rigorously vetted before they are allowed to join the Association and have to adhere to the highest standards in health and safety practice, training and development.
Proud to be a British manufacturer, Crown Paints has its headquarters in Darwen, Lancashire and the company’s roots extend back nearly two centuries.
Their paints and wood stains combine quality and reliability to deliver outstanding aesthetics and performance.
Crown’s Paints also stand at the leading edge in colour – but the company’s focus is green. Both of Crown’s manufacturing sites at Darwen and Hull hold the environmental standard ISO 14001 and the company has a raft of initiatives in place to ensure it exceeds the demanding requirements of this programme.
