Red Deer, AB -- (SBWire) -- 04/20/2015 --Everyone loves a drink. For some, it fosters light-hearted bravado that makes them the life and soul of the party. For others, drinking opens the floodgates to ending up slumped in the corner sobbing about the girlfriend that dumped them fifteen years ago. For the young protagonist in James Hunter's thrilling debut novel, alcohol provides something much more impressive.
It all plays out it 'The Wild East: Drunk on Power', a novel that is as entertaining as it is thought-provoking.
Synopsis:
The Wild East centers around a 21 year old man named Dustin in the post civil war era and takes place in the fictitious town of East, Texas. Dustin discovers that drinking liquor grants him incredible strength and healing abilities proportionate to how much he has consumed, he is not however immune to the effects of the alcohol. There are other men with different abilities but each power is brought forth by a different stimulant, called a vice.
The gang that controls East is called the Vice Lords and the are lead by Jack Scarr, whose vice is rattlesnake venom which gives him the ability to take control of the minds of others. Dustin is forced into a confrontation with the Vice Lords and the altercation launches him into a quest for glory and redemption. He joins with the Rangers, the highest authority of lawmen in Texas, and rides with them against the Vice Lords in a battle of blood, bullets and vices.
"Alcohol is a volatile thing, and has a lot of power over everyone that drinks it. My narrative pushes this concept to the nth degree; something that could bridge the gap between life and death for Dustin," explains Hunter. "The novel wasn't written to be taken too seriously, but will contain reflections on multiple facets of society that all readers will be able to relate to."
Continuing, "How would you match up to Dustin? And how would your alcohol habits see you perform when pitted against the evil Vice Lords? Buy the book and find out!"
With the novel's demand expected to rapidly increase, interested readers are urged to purchase their copies without delay.
