Baltimore, MD -- (SBWire) -- 05/12/2015 --Playtime Piano is beloved by Baltimore area music students for their convenient at-home piano lessons and knowledgeable instructors. Playtime Piano is also unique in that it encourages students young and old to write their own music during lessons. Effective immediately, Playtime Piano is proud to announce that it continues to offer piano instruction that encourages students to write original compositions.
Playtime Piano was founded by Scott and Harlene McGowan in 1997. Since then, Playtime Pianos' staff of over thirty instructors has held piano lessons in the homes of over 2,000 students in Greater Baltimore. Playtime Piano's instructors are screened to meet high standards and for their ability to work with all ages. The company feels that it is especially important that their instructors understand how children learn, so that they can teach and encourage them accordingly
One of Playtime Piano's core tenets is that piano students should be encouraged to write original compositions in addition to learning how to read and play compositions written by others. When founding Playtime Piano, the McGowans realized that in virtually all other artistic disciplines, students are instructed to not only learn about the subject but also create original works, but this philosophy was lacking in music instruction. To counteract this pattern, all Playtime Piano students are encouraged to experiment and write original compositions. Instructors are happy to encourage their students' creativity and will help them form and write their own works.
Each Playtime Piano lesson is conducted in the student's home. Instructors bring years of musical knowledge and a fun, positive atmosphere to each lesson. All Playtime Piano students are invited to play in a free yearly recital in the spring. During the recital, instructors will be on-hand to help students if needed.
