San Diego, CA -- (SBWire) -- 11/11/2010 -- San Diego, California, based OSHA Outlet recently completed a survey of 5,000 California businesses to find that seven out of 10 companies are not compliant with the new California Labor Law. Effective October 8, 2010, California employers needed to post a NEW:
"Notice to Employees--Injuries Caused by Work" posting. FAILURE to comply with these new posting requirements can lead to fines of up to $7,000.
“To be compliant, up-to-date notices must be posted in an accessible format for applicants and employees, at a location all employees routinely visit such as a break room, lunchroom, time clock or job site,” said Bobby Lipton, CEO of OSHA Outlet.
In addition, California employers must also distribute a new: "Your Rights to Workers' Compensation Benefits" pamphlet to all new employees who start work on or after October 8. Companies can request one from their insurance carriers or visit the California Workers' Compensation Institute to purchase one at http://www.cwci.org/store.html.
Employers must also begin using a revised DWC-1 Claim Form/Notice of Potential Eligibility. Businesses can download one at no cost at the California Division of Workers' Compensation at http://www.dir.ca.gov/dwc/DWCForm1.pdf.
In addition, employers who participate in, or who are implementing, changing or terminating a medical provider network (MPN) must create a MPN Notice to post and distribute to injured employees.
To help companies comply with the new Labor Law Postings, OSHA Outlet is offering the 2011 State and Federal Labor Law posters for the low price of $14.99 for a limited time.
