Astoria, NY -- (SBWire) -- 12/09/2010 -- King & Ballow Represents Hard Hitterz Productions in Redman Producer Agreement
December 6, 2010 ¡V King & Ballow attorneys Daniel B. Moskowitz and Patrick W. Ogilvy represented Washington, D.C.-based music production company Hard Hitterz Productions in an agreement with Funky Noble Productions, Inc., a company owned by internationally acclaimed and Grammy Award-nominated hip hop artist Redman. The agreement clears the way for "Lift It Up," a song co-written and produced by Jonathan Robinson p/k/a J-ROB, a producer signed to Hard Hitterz, to be featured on Redman's upcoming album, "Reggie" scheduled to be released by Def Jam Recordings on December 7, 2010.
The deal is the latest in a series of successes for King & Ballow's Entertainment Law Section, chaired by Partner Richard S. Busch, including its recent win in the Ninth Circuit case, F.B.T. Productions, LLC v. Aftermath Records, et al., where Mr. Busch represented the plaintiff, who discovered, produced, and co-wrote some of recording artist Eminem's biggest hits, in a ruling that the agreements between record label Universal and digital download providers like iTunes, are licenses, and Eminem's recording agreement entitles him and F.B.T. to 50% of Universal's net receipts for sales of Eminem songs by iTunes and others.
