Pasadena, CA -- (SBWire) -- 12/10/2010 -- The New York metropolitan area has emerged as the area with the highest number of tech jobs in America.
New York metro area including several New Jersey cities employed 317,000 people in technology jobs in 2009. The data is from a report prepared by the TechAmerica Foundation. It’s called the “Cybercities 2010: The Definitive Analysis of the High-Tech Industry in the Nation's Top 60 Cities survey”. The report shows that most of the tech workers in New York are employed with financial and other professional services firm.
Washington DC came in second place followed by Silicon Valley. Silicon Valley still has the lead in employing tech workers within tech companies. The survey showed around 30% of tech workers there work for tech related companies. Jobs there also paid the highest in the country on average. The average tech salary in San Jose/ Silicon Valley was $132,000 and the average pay in San Francisco was $123,500.
Silicon Valley has seen a 69% increase in job postings for engineers and other technical positions in the past 12 months. The people who are most in demand are software engineers, graphic designers, and project managers. CEO A.
