CanIt 8.0 introduces several major new features that greatly improve its suitability for enterprises:
Log Indexing and Searching
CanIt 8.0 indexes all mail logs into a full-text search engine. This allows system administrators and domain administrators to quickly search logs for relevant messages. The logs are grouped into correlated sets on a per-message basis; this allows CanIt to pull together log lines that are far apart in time but relate to the same message. CanIt's log indexer can search gigabytes of log data in just seconds from a convenient Web interface. This makes tracking down the progress of messages simple and pleasant compared to searching log files with traditional file-searching tools.
CanIt's email log analyzer is fully aware of realms of control; administrators can only see those log lines that pertain to their users' messages. Log lines pertaining to messages for users in other organizations are not accessible to domain administrators---only the CanIt site administrator can access cross-organizational log messages.
Complete Rule and Setting Auditing
CanIt 8.0 introduces a complete audit trail for all changes to rules and settings. This lets administrators determine when rules are created, changed or deleted, and by whom. It also lets helpdesk staff troubleshoot delivery problems by determining exactly what rules and settings were in effect at a given time.
Brand-New Web Interface
CanIt's Web interface code has been overhauled to make theming much simpler. Now, theming your CanIt site requires only minimal knowledge of PHP. Most theming work can be done by HTML designers who do not have to be programmers. As a side benefit, the new Web interface code is faster than the old code, making CanIt's GUI even snappier.
In addition to these major features, CanIt 8.0 features dozens of small improvements and bug fixes such as geolocation data for IPv6 addresses, several new API calls, improvements to the Verification Server (SMTP Callout) feature and better SNMP monitoring code.
