Raleigh, NC -- (SBWire) -- 01/27/2011 -- Security Management Consulting (http://www.secmgmt.com), a Fortune 5000 company providing leading-edge commercial security design and training, has released 2011 North Carolina SP-FA/LV course schedule.

‘Preparing for the NC SP-FA/LV Electrical Examination’ reviews subject areas covering the NEC applicable to the SP-LV (special low voltage) classification examination, as well as administrative requirements of the NCBEEC. The course focuses on the NEC requirements for the installation of low-voltage and power-limited circuits for fire alarm and security systems.

In addition, it also addresses other subject areas as described by the NCBEEC in their information for applicants and as of 2011, licensees in the SP-FA/LV classification must complete four hours of continuing education each year to qualify for renewal.

At the conclusion of the course, attendees should have a clearer understanding of installation and wiring methods for these systems, including requirements from other important NEC Articles. This course covers NEC, in great detail and is very fast-paced. The course is designed to help people pass the examination, as well as educate new and older employees in the company.

‘Preparing for the NC SP-FA/LV Electrical Examination’ course is recommended for serious students who are familiar with NEC and will be presented on the following days at the Security Management Consulting Training Facility on Blue Ridge Avenue in Raleigh:

- March 9, 2011

- April 7, 2011

- May 11, 2011

- June 16, 2011

Security Management Consulting strongly recommends that students bring a copy of the Code (2008) to class in order to participate in exercises.

“This course is an excellent method of reviewing the material for continuing education credit towards SP-FA/LV license renewal,” noted Kile Unterzuber, CPP, SET, CFPS, Vice President of Business Development and Training. “It features in-depth teaching along with an audio-visual presentation with open discussion.”

Please make note that the SP-FA/LV license classification has been changed to SP-FA/LV (Special restricted Fire Alarm/Low-Voltage). The license examination now includes 15 questions about fire alarm systems and the National Fire Alarm Code (NFPA 72). This course has been updated to place increased emphasis on fire alarm systems. However, license applicants who do not have significant previous fire alarm system experience should consider taking a separate introductory or review class that goes into more detail about the subject.
