Guangzhou, Guangdong -- (SBWire) -- 02/15/2011 -- Recently, CCM International has published a new market report, Survey of High Intensity Sweeteners in Asia Pacific in late Jan. 2011. This report covers policies and key influencing factors, forecast on demand in Asia Pacific region, especially penetrating into the production, demand and end-use segments and trade situation of key manufacturing countries, such as China, India, Indonesia and Japan. Besides, breakdowns of products in these countries are also provided in this report.
According to this latest research, the production of high intensity sweeteners (HIS) in Asia Pacific (AP) has suffered from the global financial crisis in the past two years. At present, HIS production in AP has gradually recovered since H2 2009. In 2010, the output achieves a growth rate of 10.11%, rising to about 109,114 tonnes in 2010 from about 99,088 tonnes in 2009. Among these sweeteners, seven products are widely produced, namely saccharin, cyclamate, acesulfame-K, stevia sweetener, aspartame, sucralose and glycyrrhizin. The production patents of alitame and neotame are owned by two American companies.
As a regional research, this report highlights the situation of major countries, including China, India, Indonesia and Japan. China, the biggest player in AP, has the consumption market size reaching about 24,641 tonnes with market value of USD135 million in 2010. With output of 80,639 tonnes, China is also the most important HIS production country in AP. For other regions, the survey includes details that Japan is an important aspartame production country in the world. Besides, Malaysia is an important stevia sweetener production country in AP. Singapore is a weighty sucralose producer in the world because the biggest sucralose company has set up its production center there.
In terms of HIS international trade in AP, the products of major production countries are mainly exported. Major export destinations are the US, the EU and other developed countries. China is the biggest HIS export country in AP with the total HIS export reaching 47,981 tonnes in 2009, while Indonesia and Malaysia are estimated to be the two biggest HIS import countries, with the total HIS import of over 3,000 tonnes in 2009.
The report makes analysis on industrial development through key influencing factors: policies, economy, environment, consumer behaviors and substitutes. Besides, forecast on demand of each major region analyses future development opportunities.
