London, England -- (SBWire) -- 04/15/2011 -- For the third year running a team of 14 from Hammersmith-based Avanta Managed Offices are planning to take part in a 5.6 km race to help raise funds for one of the UK’s leading children’s’ medical research charity, Sparks, as part of the JP Morgan Corporate Challenge 2011.
“Our team is very enthusiastic and is made up of employees drawn from all of ourLondon business centres,” comments David Alberto, Avanta’s Managing Director, who will be leading the team when the race starts in Battersea Park at 6.45pm on the evening of Thursday 7th July. “We now look forward to this great event every year and hope to beat the £1,100 we raised for Sparks last year.
“As a serviced office company, we are committed to giving back to the local community and as Sparks supports some of the most important medical research undertaken today into childhood illnesses, we endeavour to raise as much as possible to ensure that the work of this exceedingly worthwhile charity continues. If anybody would like to sponsor the Avanta team for this great cause they can do so by visiting justgiving.com/avanta2011
“Every penny raised helps to support our vital research to make the biggest difference to so many young lives,” adds Ikram Dahman, Director of Development at Sparks. “The goal we share with Avanta is to help as many babies as possible to be born healthy and grow up healthy. And the only way to achieve that is through pioneering research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of all sorts of conditions.”

Note to editors:
Avanta managed Offices was formed in 2004 by David Alberto. The company offers highly flexible, unbranded office space and meeting rooms, with advanced and competitively price technology, tailor made to meet the requirements of the occupier. In the UK it currently manages more than 650,000 sq ft of office space in prime locations in London, the Thames Valley and Edinburgh. It also operates one business centre in New Delhi, India and in 2009 formed a partnership with Regent Business Centers, which manage 13 locations throughout the US.
Sparks is at the forefront of pioneering research to help protect new born babies against conditions like club foot, cerebral palsy, childhood cancer, juvenile arthritis, asthma, premature birth and many others. On average, more than 3,000 babies born in the UK die before their first birthday. Medical research for conditions affecting children is seriously underfunded and the rarer conditions get almost no support at all. Sparks' view is that every child matters.
Sparks innovative research is funded 100% by voluntary income, not the Government.
Some medical breakthroughs as a result of Sparks funded research are as follows:
? Improving the treatment and pain management of premature babies undergoing intensive care.
? The world’s first successful use of cooling research, which is a pioneering new combination treatment to help prevent or improve brain injury in babies who suffer a shortage of oxygen or blood supply during birth.
