This award is co-organised by the Business Continuity Institute (BCI) and Business Continuity Planning Asia (BCP Asia) that aims to propel the growth and advancement in the field of business continuity, as well as to accolade the achievements of individuals and organizations in this growing industry.
The BCI Asia Business Continuity Awards 2011 is introducing more categories this year to recognize the efforts of individuals, teams and at corporate level. The 3 new award categories introduced this year are:
• Business Continuity Specialist of the Year
• Business Continuity Team of the Year
• Group Excellence in Business Continuity Management(for Small Medium Businesses)
The Group Excellence in Business Continuity Management was first introduced in the 1st Asia Business Continuity Awards (2007). This year, the award is divided into two separate categories – one for the mainstream and one for small medium businesses (SMBs) with less than 300 employees. The organizing committee realizes that this refinement is necessary to encourage more SMBs to participate in the award, and in a category that fits them hence boosting their confidence in winning in the award category. The organizing committee is looking forward to receiving more nominations from SMBs this year.
The Business Continuity Product/Service of the Year Award is one of most sought-after awards that receive overwhelming response each year. The Business Continuity Product/Service of the Year Award (2009) was presented to SunGard Availability Services. Business Continuity Product/Service of the Year Award (2009)
Mr. Abdulrahman Alonaizan of Arab National Bank won the Lifetime Achievement Award (2009) and has been invited to be one of the esteemed panel of international judges in the BCI Asia Business Continuity Awards 2011. Mr. Abdrulrahman also won the BCM Manager of the Year in the 2nd Asia Business Continuity Awards (2008). When asked about his experience participating in the award since 2008, here is what he says:

Lifetime Achievement Award (2009)
Since the announcement of the opening of nominations, the organizers have received many enquiries from different industry sectors and locations. Organisations that are certified or have BCM program in place are encouraged to participate in this award to benchmark their program as well as to recognize the team that put the program together.
Winners of the BCI Asia Business Continuity Award 2011 will be presented with a specially designed plaque at the award ceremony on 12 October 2011 in Singapore. The Lifetime Achievement Award (2011) winner will be offered a speaking opportunity in the 9th Asia Business Continuity Conference, to be held on 13-14 October 2011 at Suntec Singapore.
