Costa Mesa, CA -- (SBWire) -- 09/14/2015 --South Coast Optometry, a local Costa Mesa optometric practice with a passion for serving their community and providing their patients with top notch eye care, is proud to introduce their newest doctor, a California native, Dr. Aaronshawn Poolsaad.
Dr. Daniel Quon of South Coast Optometry has the following to say about Dr. Poolsaad, "We are very excited to be bringing on such a remarkably skilled, patient-oriented eye doctor. We know that our patients will be happy with everything that Dr. Poolsaad will be able to contribute to their overall eye care as part of our practice."
Dr. Poolsaad grew up in Long Beach, California, where he attended Long Beach Polytechnic High School. He says of his family and upbringing, "I come from a Thai background and my parents always emphasized education and hard work in my life. I only have one younger brother but being a big brother has always been a major part of my personality. It probably is a big reason why I enjoy working with children so much. Ever since I was little, I suspected my grandma was an angel or saint or some other type of divine being. There has never been any evidence suggesting otherwise."
Dr. Poolsaad received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from UC-Irvine and continued on to receive his Doctor of Optometry degree from the Southern California College of Optometry at MBKU. While at the Southern California College of Optometry he also received the Certificate of Recognition for Outstanding Performance.
After school, Dr. Poolsaad completed clinical rotations at an Indian Health Service Facility in New Mexico, the Southern Arizona VA, and a private practice near Chicago that focused on specialty contact lens fittings.
Dr. Poolsaad is proud to be a member of the California Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He specializes mostly in primary eye care, and has extensive experience in pediatrics, diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma management.
When asked why he chose Optometry Dr. Poolsaad relates "Before I started Optometry school, I worked as a technician with a group of pediatric ophthalmologists. I loved being with the kids because they were always able to take my mind off of anything stressful. There is an innocence in children that I have always found refreshing and even at that time, I wanted to help in any way I could because of the importance of vision to growth and development. Their smiles remind you why you do the job."
Dr. Poolsaad has already begun seeing patients. For more information, contact South Coast Optometry at 714-421-4636
