Sevierville, TN -- (SBWire) -- 10/18/2016 --With Veterans' Day right around the corner, military veterans young and old will be thanked for their service and their dedication to keeping America safe through parades, solemn celebrations, and displays of affection. Citizens of the United States are indebted to these men and women, who have perished defending the freedoms they hold so dearly. The sacrifices they've made were highlighted in July's issue of National Truckin' Magazine, which was dedicated to military veterans. That special edition was written to bring awareness to the plight of those who served so dutifully, in the hopes that they might be hired within the trucking industry. It is this effort of assimilation back into the civilian lifestyle which the team at National Truckin' Magazine feels so passionately about.

There are currently over 22 million veterans in America, of which an estimated 8% are female. Unfortunately, one in ten of those veterans is currently battling a disability, most often linked to injuries sustained in combat. Even sadder perhaps is the fact that veterans are more likely to become homeless, and many of them report difficulty adjusting to civilian life. One glimmer of hope lies in the trucking industry, an industry known for proudly accepting veterans into the workforce. This issue of the magazine seeks to highlight the commitments made by men and women, both past and present, and applaud them for their roles as leaders in the field of transportation.

National Truckin' Magazine has strong ties to the military, having been found by a veteran of the Marine Corps., Jerry Hayes. He had this to say, "As you can imagine, Veterans' Day is very near and dear to my heart, and each year we do everything we can to help assist with the problems veterans face on a day-to-day basis. We hope that others can realize the benefits of working in the trucking industry. 16 veterans were profiled in our July issue, all professional truck drivers, and their stories were intended to persuade others to join this rewarding industry. This month we wish to feature military soldiers with their loved ones in honor of Military Family Appreciation Month."
