London, UK -- (SBWire) -- 10/14/2015 --According to reports, flights during the October half-term are on average 24% more expensive than last year. Sun Holiday Reviews magazine that has called for the government to remove the ban has said the cost of a holiday when children are not in school is more expensive than other times of the year.
Many parents believe travel companies are using the school term holiday ban to increase their profits, but Sun Holiday Reviews magazine has said travel companies are being short-sighted. According to Diane Walker from the travel magazine, parents are going to move away from high street travel agents and instead book direct with hotels and airlines to cut costs. That means fewer profits for the top three highs tree travel agents.
Diane Walker from Sun Holiday Reviews Magazine said: "It's a well-known fact that high street travel agent boost the cost of a holiday when children are not at school. They are taking advantage when really they should be looking after their customers."
More parents due to the rising cost are being forced to ignore the school term holiday ban and take their children out of school. Although they are saving money, they are left with a fine, and if that fine is not paid straight away, they could face court action. Some MPs, teachers and tourism officials have called for the government to remove the ban, calling it unfair. However, there is no sign of that ban being removed.
Sun Holiday Reviews magazine would like the government, travel agents to come together to sort out the rising cost of holidays, so working class parents are not being priced out of a family holiday.
