A question many South Florida drivers may have is the legality of transporting a pet in the back of a vehicle, such as a pickup truck. Although laws do exist when it comes to children being transported in the back of a truck, pets are a trickier subject to address.

Miami, FL -- (SBWire) -- 11/15/2018 --Indeed, Florida traffic law has no explicit laws in place when it comes to pets and pickup trucks. However, laws do exist addressing the ability to control a pet to prevent the chance of it potentially becoming a public safety threat. As to what steps should be taken to keep a pet safe during vehicular travel, that responsibility is left up to the driver. Although municipalities may have existing ordinances addressing pet transport, they are more than likely to vary depending on where a person goes.

As for pets and pickups, it may be wise for the driver to err on the side of caution. As man's best friend and a close family member for many, there is no need to put a pet in a situation where their safety is at risk.
