Richmond, VA -- (SBWire) -- 11/06/2017 --Richmond, Virginia based technology company, UZURV (YOO-zurv) is pleased to announce an agreement with The American Cancer Society (ACS) to provide cancer patients with transportation to and from their treatments throughout Virginia.
Our agreement with the ACS means cancer patients whose treatment schedules are critical, now have the option to get a private car to take them to their appointments. This helps remove many of the barriers that patients may have to accessing their life-saving treatments.
UZURV is a Reservation Services Company and mobile app created to enhance the on-demand transportation experience. Currently operating in 155 cities, UZURV combines the convenience and affordability of on-demand transportation with the security of a reservation service to give riders personal service that matches their specific needs. This Smart City solution was recognized by Greater Richmond Transit Company (GRTC) in July when they awarded UZURV with a contract to provide transportation to their disabled and elderly citizens.
Travis Snellings, VP Special Transportation says, "ACS liked what we were doing in Richmond. The Care-On-Demand program, a partnerhsip between GRTC and UZURV, has been serving ADA riders in Richmond and Henrico County since August 1. Our service, which gives riders greater flexibility and control over the timing, and the type of transportation they need, has been a great success so far."
Casey Botticello, Director of Strategic Planning commented, "UZURV is thrilled to work with the American Cancer Society to provide cancer patients with transportation to and from their treatments. We are looking forward to increasing mobility options, nationwide, for medical patients, seniors, and people with disabilities who have historically had limited freedom of mobility."
Service will begin in the Greater Richmond Area and expand throughout the Virginia over the next few months. UZURV's hours of operation are from 7 am - 6 pm Monday - Friday. An extension of these hours is expected by the end of October.
The American Cancer Society is a global grassroots force of nearly 2 million volunteers dedicated to saving lives, celebrating lives, and leading the fight for a world without cancer. From breakthrough research, to free lodging near treatment, a 24/7/365 live helpline, free rides to treatment, and convening powerful activists to create awareness and impact, the Society is the only organization attacking cancer from every angle.
