Los Angeles, CA -- (SBWire) -- 09/25/2014 --There’s no way to sugar-coat it, bedtime just isn’t fun for kids (and therefore parents!). Reactions vary; from simple eye-rolling and whining through to Broadway-style living room breakdowns. However, LA film producer Marie Rose is on a bold mission to make bedtime fun and engaging once again; and her new publishing company’s debut release offers the entire family an out-of-this-world adventure to ensure the light goes out peacefully.
‘ZWOOSH!’ is a true interplanetary exploration, fuelled by the admirable mission of Indie Rose Books for Kids to increase childhood literacy and the importance of reading together in every family.
Synopsis:
Fly to the stars in your very own rocket ship. Wave at the mean, green Martians. Picnic with Moon Men. Play tag with the comets. Win a blue ribbon space race. Just before your bedtime.
Inspired by the palette of Vincent van Gogh, let’s go on a colorful space journey as we explore the planets in our solar system through the power and wonder of a child’s whimsical imagination.
“There’s nothing a child’s imagination can’t do. The real question is, are we stimulating our kids enough so they can get to bed tired, satisfied and full of ideas to sleep on?” asks Rose, a recipient of The Walt Disney Fellowship in Screenwriting. “Studies show that kids’ self-esteem is more elevated by how much the adults in their lives interact with them positively than any kind of peer-to-peer interaction. By taking steps to bring the entire family together for the nightly tradition of “story time” we not only make the bedtime process more amicable, but empower each child’s sense of self-worth and self-discovery along the way.”
Continuing, “Our company’s first book is chock-full of whimsical fantasy that will allow every child to fire up their imagination cylinders with gusto. It also makes a great playtime read, kindergarten story or resource for libraries and community groups.”
Rose has big plans for her publishing company that co-produced the book, eBook, and upcoming audiobook and app companions with Chris Chamberlain, co-founder of Chamberlain-Rose Productions, who was responsible for the book’s layout design, SFX, original music, narration recording, and interactive app animations. “The book trailer Chris created is truly a cut above most children’s book trailers and it has helped the project to blast-off from the launch pad beautifully, along with several 5 star early reviews from children’s book bloggers,” Rose says.
“Our mission statement is to put families in a place where they can create boundless happily-ever-afters and turn literarily-passive children toward the joys of reading. Bedtime is the perfect opportunity with which to do this, hence the aim of our first book.” She continues, “There are plenty of exciting things around the corner – so keep your space helmet visor up and your eyes peeled!”
Rose adds, “On a more serious note, shortly after we contracted to work together on ‘ZWOOSH!’ in fall of 2011, illustrator Susan Lee was diagnosed with breast cancer. Susan made the brave decision to continue living her life and creating her art in spite of the diagnosis and undergoing some very rough months of aggressive chemotherapy and radiation treatments. While she battled for her life, she also created all of the beautiful illustrations you see in ‘ZWOOSH!’ October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. To celebrate Susan’s return to health as a “Cancer Warrior” we’re giving 10% of all profits from ‘ZWOOSH!’ sales during that month to one of Susan’s favorite charities, We Spark Cancer Support Center in Burbank, CA (http://www.wespark.org), that provides free cancer support to patients, family, and friends during treatment and, just as importantly, during the long, equally difficult recovery period.”
