Jackson, MS -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/18/2014 -- Singer-Songwriter Aretha Henry has new music on the way. She is working on her third studio album. The album is expected to be released this summer.

The Mississippi native gushed about the new music on her blog: “This last song that I wrote is easily my favorite song in the world right now. I can hardly wait to let you hear it."

Aretha Henry MusicThe ‘In My Own World’ singer released her sophomore album, Enchanted, in 2012. The album spawned the chart-topping singles ‘Captive’ and ‘Magic’ as well as other fan favorites ‘In One Piece’ and ‘I Will Follow’.

Aretha Henry was born in Jackson Mississippi and raised in Camden Mississippi with her two sisters of whom she is the middle child. She grew up in the Baptist church and sang in several choirs and groups until her early twenties.

In May 2000, Aretha Henry graduated from Velma Jackson High School in Camden Mississippi where she was a member of the choir. Later, she attended the University of Southern Mississippi where she studied Fashion Merchandising.

While still in college, she began singing hooks for local rappers. Soon after, she began writing and recording her own songs.

In 2008, she began recording at 16 Bars Recording Studio in Jackson Mississippi where she met recording engineer and producer, Kevin "KJ" Jones. Soon after, she began working on her debut album. The singer and producer were wed on February 25, 2011.

Henry released several singles including ‘I want you’ and 'Bliss' before releasing her debut album, Beautiful, in June 2010.

In October 2011, Aretha released a compilation album titled "The Best of Aretha Henry- Jones" which included fan favorites from the "Beautiful" album along with new singles "Magic" and "In My Own World".

Aretha Henry is the middle child of three girls. Aretha's mother divorced her father when she was very young and remarried when Aretha was a preteen. To her delight, her new step-dad had an amazing singing voice. It was the first time she had ever been around someone who was as talented as herself with a love of music that matched her own. She was heartbroken when he and her mother divorced just a few years later.
