Claremont, Cape Town -- (SBWIRE) -- 11/14/2014 -- Two South African entrepreneurs have built an online clothing design marketplace to connect designers and retail outlets by allowing designers to upload their unique apparel designs and be able to sell them directly to resellers who prefer to keep overheads down and buy on an instant and ‘design on demand’ basis.

The entrepreneurs have spotted a gap in the $2.6 billion dollar industry, quantified in the US alone. With a huge surge in ‘buy on demand’ and ‘manufacture on demand’ services, they saw that there was a missing link to the sea of automated mini factories online and that was the ‘design on demand’ element. The utter simplicity of the concept can eliminate major in-house costs for any small to medium sized retailer and aids in fast tracking ideas to market in an extremely competitive industry. It is also an ingenious solution in an industry that is quickly recognizing the global shift in ‘supply and demand’ to ‘demand and supply’ as a much more profitable model.

Not only does the platform provide a quick and quality solution for retailers and resellers, but it also provides designers with the network and the tools to be able to sell their designs on a royalty or a ‘buy out’ basis, empowering them as entrepreneurs as opposed to commissioning them as freelancers.
