Industry News
November, 2017, -Hyundai Mobis announced that it had developed reverse driving support technology that autonomously steers when a car goes back without the driver having to operate the steering wheel. Though there is already a function called Parking Assist (PA), which autonomously steers a car in reverse parking, this is the first time that a technology has been specifically developed to support reverse driving. Starting with this technology, Hyundai Mobis plans to secure further autonomous reverse driving tech, broadening the paradigm of autonomous driving. Contrary to the Driving Assistance System (DAS) which directly recognizes external environments through cameras, radars and ultrasonic sensors, Hyundai Mobis's reverse drive support tech grasps external environments through real-time driving information. Under this method, a steering angle sensor, a wheel sensor and a yaw sensor installed inside a vehicle measure the car's speed, distance and degree of rotation.
December, 2017, ON Semiconductor, driving energy efficient innovations, will be focusing on its technologies that are enabling the progression towards fully autonomous driving and increased electronic content in connected vehicles at the 2018 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas. Among multiple exhibits will be interactive demonstrations that will allow visitors to experience and understand the company's industry leading solutions in these exciting and fast-moving areas of technology. The Automotive Image Sensing Applications Platform demonstration will enable attendees to see the real-world performance of the company's latest image sensors in various Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) applications including front view, surround view, rear view and driver monitoring. Image sensors from ON Semiconductor achieve current and future industry performance level requirements in terms of resolution, clarity, mixed and poor light conditions and robustness for level three driving autonomy and beyond.
December, 2017, Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc., a committed technology leader, announced a new IC that is compliant with the Bluetooth Low Energy (LE) core specification 4.2 – including support for a secure connection, LE privacy features and extended packet length. The new TC35679IFTG is designed for use in harsh automotive environments and extended temperature ranges. A mixed-signal device, the TC35679IFTG contains both analog RF and baseband digital parts. This enables it to provide a complete solution in a single, compact, low-profile QFN 'wettable flank' package with a pin pitch of 0.5mm.
