BLAST! points out that the roaring success of its first edition in 2015 and their international presentations in Paris at Asia Now and at Caffe Internazionale in Palermo have inspired them to launch their show again during the Art In The City Festival from September 9th to October 9th at K11, as well as in five additional venues such as CREATER SPACE, MIX PLACE, MoCA Pavilion,HU BAR & LOUNGE and CITIC PLAZA across Shanghai.

BLAST! says that theirs is an open call addressed to anyone over the age of 18, disseminated through a variety of platforms and social media and its space is for all who are involved in discovering the emerging creativity of Asia. While BLAST! Visions is dedicated to moving image, animation, cartoons, computer-generated videos, interactivity, and beyond, BLAST! Sounds that has been launched this year, seeks new music, including acoustic, electronic, experimental, noise, pop, rock, found or environmental and so on. They hope that the project will increase international awareness about the multiplicity of sound and image production.

This year's edition is being organized by Arthub in collaboration with Art In The City and Flatmind. BLAST! adds that they, with TAKE ME OUT, in conjunction with Arthub and Art In The City will be presenting a series of talks at various locations across Shanghai throughout the month of September for bringing together interdisciplinary practitioners from the field of sound art to discuss the physicality and transportive nature of sound. They point out that since the incorporation of digital technology into sound art, the discipline has undergone a radical transformation. Panelists will explore the impact of actively listening to the natural soundscapes around us.

Another talk will center around the aim of assessing the works on display meld art, design and technology in an effort to construct a new map of visual perception. BLAST! points out that the objects in TAKE ME OUT challenge our comprehension of the spaces within which we view art and how we circularly continue to re-purpose and re-imagine objects and artwork in accordance with our evolving societal needs.

The panelists who take part in these talks will address how the advancement of digital media and technology has not only impacted artistic creation, but also the methods in which consumers are engaging with their surroundings. The way we travel, shop, date, learn, play and work continue to evolve as our devices becoming increasingly interactive, thus creating the perfect user experience. The panelists will also explore the link between commercial standards for marketing and communication, and how these developments have impacted the world of contemporary art.

There will be a a special presentation by Miltos Manetas and his new media work related to Pokémon, an ongoing series the artist started in 2000. There will be an Arthub's Screening Program at the end of September along with an interview and text by Videotage's Ellen Pau and Phoebe Wong.
