At the age of sixty-seven, Harry Wilk continues to fight adversities caused by factors that were beyond his control. He is looking to raise $50,000 to start a respectable and hassle-free life once again.
Las Vegas, NV -- (SBWIRE) -- 06/21/2017 -- Harry Wilk started his line of high-quality outdoor wooden beach furniture in 2002, working from his garage. Started as a hobby business, the product very quickly achieved an unexpectedly high business volume. By the end of 2009, this business expanded to over $1.4 Million in sales. Harry sold his products all along the coast of the Gulf of Mexico from Texas to Florida. The business also manufactured an exquisite range of products for different hotels, resorts, wineries, and many other clients.
However, unfortunately, things were not destined to remain the same for Harry Wilk and his rapidly growing business. In the aftermath of the infamous BP Oil Spill in 2010, the business lost around 50% of its business by the end of the year. Harry and his wife continued to keep the business going with the help of their savings as well as credit.
Harry's compensation claim with the Gulf Coast Claims Facility resulted in a meager 10% of the claimed amount being offered, after a painstaking wait for two years. This is when Harry decided to file for interim payments and filed a lawsuit against BP. As a result of the company financial condition, they were also forced to accept the offer of a large advance with very high interest from another company. In 2012, under a new procedure by the court for handling BP Oil Spill Claims, Harry's claims were denied and his lawsuit against BP dismissed.
In spite of all possible efforts, Harry's business failed to get back on track. By this time, he had exhausted all his savings and borrowed from all possible sources. In 2016, he started defaulting on the loans and had to face numerous legal procedures. Finally, in April 2017, Harry was forced by the creditors to sell his business.
Harry is desperately in need of funds to handle his legal defense. He has just started an Indiegogo campaign to raise $50,000. "I used the last of my money to hire an attorney to fight this to prevent a judgement which would impair my ability to get a job. It will continue to cost more than I have to fight this lawsuit and that is one of the reasons for my request for help to raise $50,000," he says.
A funding of $50,000 will also help Harry restart his old insurance business that he had before starting the manufacturing company. With adequate funding support, he hopes to build this business into something that will help the family lead a respectable life.
