Per capita GDP was estimated at USD 8726.90 whereas purchasing power parity (PPP) based per capita GDP was estimated to be at USD 15241.73.

In 2016, the Brazilian government's revenue was BRL 2046.97 billion whereas the expenditure was BRL 2609.38 billion. This resulted in the Brazilian government's net lending / borrowing negative at BRL 562.409 billion in 2016 indicating that enough financial resources were not made available by the government to boost economic growth.
The current account balance for Brazil was estimated to be negative at USD 23.507 billion for the year 2016 and is expected to decline at a CAGR of 0.51.996% and reach USD 51.148 by 2022. This negative current account balance indicates Brazil is net borrower from the whole world.
