BridgePaths is building an education and information program to improve the lives of both caregivers and the people that they care during health crises that lead to financial crises.
Burnsville, MN -- (SBWIRE) -- 08/12/2014 -- BridgePaths is an interactive program, sponsored by the White Dove Foundation. The program focuses on improving the lives of both caregivers and the people that are receiving care. The mission of BridgePaths is to give caregivers hope and peace of mind, knowing they aren’t alone and their situation is not unique. More importantly, BridgePaths provides an interactive video library, a centralized information system and a network of trusted professional advisors who are certified by the White Dove Foundation.
The goal of BridgePaths is to help the 70 million Americans that are currently having difficulty with health and financial crises as caregivers and don’t know who to turn for help. The network of professionals and volunteers help families in need by training the family member or members who are in charge of caring for a person. These role models “love, teach and appreciate” the caregivers.
They “love” by showing compassion and empathy as they help the caregiver. The “teach: by providing trustworthy information, assessment tools and processes that build a caregiver’s confidence. The “appreciate” by planning and conducting Caregiver Appreciation Days, acknowledging the many caregivers who are often underappreciated, overworked and underpaid.
According to statistics from the American Cancer Society, Coalition for Transforming Advanced Care and the National Caregiver Library, more than one sixth of Americans will need full time care in their lifetime and at care will primarily come from a loved one. Due to the fact that these situations are often so difficult, if not impossible to plan for, they can become a huge burden that causes of an unhealthy amount of stress for caregivers as well as the rest of the family. BridgePaths believes that many of the problems that caregivers face can be reduced and solved if they are properly educated on important subjects that revolve around their particular situation.
"Caregivers are under extreme pressure to meet the expectations of care receivers, families, medical professionals and since many have other jobs, their employers," says John Chaya, co-founder of The White Dove Foundation and developer of BridgePaths.
About BridgePaths
BridgePaths has launched an Indiegogo Crowdfunding Campaign called the “BridgePaths Caregiver Platform” to raise $45,000 as seed capital to further develop the technology, content and progress BridgePaths from a basic information program to a sustainable business model. Also additional research will be funded to develop caregiver best practices techniques and strategies that can be used to help caregivers improve both their lives and the lives of the people who are in their care. These funds will be the start of three phased program to design, pilot and launch BridgePaths nationwide.
Chaya states "The BridgePaths Caregiver Platform brings hope and peace of mind by helping caregivers and receivers “prepare and repair themselves.” We are preparing future generations of families who will need caregivers and repairing existing caregivers in the midst of crises with “Just-In-Time Care Training and Advice.”
The goal of this “prepare and repair curriculum” is to help caregivers understand the conditions, concerns and problems that exist in the crisis, overcome the stress, loss of identity and loss of their own personal health and financial resources, and to restore their quality of life, hope and peace of mind.
The Indiegogo campaign funding goal will provide the first phase of the bigger vision to be the bedrock of a worldwide caregiver platform in three years.
