Brisbane Woman Discovers "Ayahuasca" at a Plant Medicine Retreat in the Amazon Jungle, Peru

Brisbane, Australia -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/21/2016 -- "Ayahuasca is like thick brown river sludge that has a bitter after taste similar to the dregs of what you would find in a port or wine barrel. When drinking it you smell a smell you will never forget… disgusting."

That's how Kerrie Mercel, a Brisbane property developer describes her encounter with a Peruvian plant medicine that she took during a twenty one day retreat in the jungles of Peru. Mercel went to Peru in hopes of finding a natural cure for her chronic diabetes.

"Plant Medicine is already calling the western world. If you have a desire to try this medicine for yourself you may just find that you have the fastest, most amazing life changing experience that would normally take years to create given alternative methods," Mercel explained.

"Be warned," she added, "this is not for the faint hearted or people who think they will experiment with a new drug. This is a plant medicine, an alternative to western medicine. Don't mess with Ayahuasca she will chew you up and spit you out."

In her eBook available at https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B01CZ2FFIW, Mercel explains how the seven day retreat was conducted by a Peruvian Shaman in very austere conditions. Only very simple, bland foods are allowed, such as rice, lentils, green plantains, certain kinds of toothless fish and quinoa. No salt, sugar, oils or spicy food, no physical contact with anyone, except the maestro administering the "dieta." No use of chemicals of any kind. This includes soap, toothpaste, deodorant, insect repellent, etc..

The Ayahuasca plant medicine acts as both a purgative and hallucinogen. Mercel explains "Ayahuasca: is an entheogen based brew made out of the Banisteriopsis caapi vine, often in combination with various other plants. The brew is used as a traditional spiritual medicine in ceremonies among the Indigenous peoples of Amazonian Peru."

Under the guidance of the Shaman, Mercel also took other traditional Peruvian herbs including San Pedro cactus and Chiric Sanango in nine different ceremonies during the weeklong retreat. "I purged 50 years of painful emotion, energy and negativity during the retreat, "Mercel explained.
