Halifax, NS -- (SBWIRE) -- 03/27/2014 -- Patty has lived and worked in Halifax, Nova Scotia for the past 30 years as Principal Flautist of Symphony Nova Scotia. Her inspiration for this crowd funding campaign came from the Warner Bros. movie Pay it Forward.
As Patty has gotten to know Kevin a bit over the past few weeks, she feels he deserves help. Kevin tells her that he is desperate to get off of the streets. Why? The birth of his daughter changed his entire perspective on life. Creighton says, “I got a good feeling about this young man despite the strife and anger, so I decided to help by making a short movie about him and by creating the crowd funding campaign using the pay it forward principle”.
The magnitude of what even a small donation will do for Kevin is far-reaching. Amounts aren't set; one can contribute $5, $10, $15—or more, if possible. “Helping even one person change their life for the better brings out the very best of our human nature,” says Creighton.
Here is a breakdown of the funding budget of $5,000
$1500 for eleven weeks (@$150/week) lodging at the YMCA until it closes May end, 2014
$1500 for groceries until May end, 2014 ($150 a week)
$200 to get his permanent driver's license so he has more options for finding work.
Money for ongoing expenses after May
Money to help him pay for some of the expenses for his daughter
Education funding; books, online tuition fees towards Grade 12 accreditation
This campaign will receive all funds raised even if it does not reach its goal. Funding duration: March 18, 2014 - April 17, 2014 (11:59pm PT).
